Brand Black

The Hundreds has posted an article breaking down Brand Black's mission in the footwear industry.  David Raysse and Billy Dill and the brains behind the brand's direction and they have a very "pure" vision of what will make this brand unique.

I highly respect them attempting to break into an industry that Nike has 96% of.  It's about being competitive, but yet leading in your own way.  Hit the link below to read the entire article.

The Q.DESIGNS "What If" Series

For those that follow me via Instagram have seen this, but for those that haven't...this is part 1 of the Q.DESIGNS "What If" Series.  I wanted to start a design series of shoes that would basically ask the question, "What if Q.DESIGNS was given the opportunity to collaborate with different footwear companies to revamp some of their most popular styles?"

The first shoe up was the Air Jordan 8.  The shoe to me is a classic so I wouldn't change it dramatically.  Slight pattern and outsole changes, added patent leather, different collar shape, and a cool graphic insole.

This is the first shoe, stay tuned for the next!

Q.Designs NO.2 Premiere

What up world!  So the hype on the Q.Designs NO.2 has been WILD to say the least!  So to make my customers happy I'm willing to release the crowdfunding campaign earlier for this particular style earlier than what was expected if at least 80 people pledge via my website: www.qdesignsfootwear.com before Christmas.  Click the SHOP tab and you'll see the pledge bracket...there is no money due upfront!

Initially, I wanted to launch the entire line around February but due to overhead costs and Chinese New Year pushing production back, that date wouldn't be until Summer 2014 and you wouldn't have the shoes in your hands until Fall 2014 sometime.  With the campaign for the NO.2 possibly launching earlier, you can expect to have this shoe in your hands in Summer 2014.

So this is the public's chance to prove how much they want this shoe!  It's up to you guys! Share this with family and friends that may be interested!  I truly appreciate all of the support and kind words regarding the brand.  I look forward to possibly giving you something to rock on your feet sooner than later!

*Note that this NO.2 will release as the Base Model.  The shoe that you guys see in the rendering will be the Elite Model, which will come with performance outsole and insole...this will release later in the year for 2014.

Nike Kobe 9 Elite

And here it is.  The anticipated Kobe 9 Elite.  This boxing...oops, I mean basketball shoe is Kobe's next signature sneaker.  Designed by the infamous Eric Avar, the design features three of Nike's top technologies: Flywire, Flyknit, and Lunarlon.

I have to say, this shoe is not my favorite design by Eric Avar.  This has to grow on me.  I'm looking forward to seeing more colorways of it because this "Masterpiece" colorway, as Nike calls it, is a bit much.  One cool element are the red stitch lines in the rear representing Kobe's sutures of his achilles surgery.  Other than that, I'm not truly impressed by the design.

There's one thing about this design that is guaranteed.  You will either hate and love it!  What are your thoughts??  Click the link below to view more photos and read more about the story behind the design via SneakerNews.

Rajon Rondo Officially Joins ANTA

It was rumored that Rondo left NIKE to sign with ANTA and today it is official!  Yet again, another big name NBA star joins a Chinese brand.  I actually like this move and the look of the shoe.  The ANTA Rondo 1 is Rondo's first signature shoe....with a Chinese brand.  Do I sense a trend here?  Click the link to view more pictures and read more about the shoe.  What are your thoughts on it?

James Howe: Howe Concepts

It's my pleasure to introduce you to James Howe.  Who is James Howe?  He's a 19 year old aspiring designer from a small country called Wales in the UK.  He's currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Product Design.  To top it off, he's also designing a sneaker for a premier  soccer team in the UK.

I originally saw James samples on Instagram and they intrigued me because they were so clean and dope!  But after conversing with him and getting to know him better, his story was significant to me because he's only 19 years old and trying to make an impact in something he loves to do.  AT 19.  It just goes to show you that age has nothing to do with the passion for success and drive.  Read below a little about him and his inspirations.

"My main inspirations would probably be from buying so many sneakers, playing basketball for the past 5 years and being interested in sport in general, always wanting to make a mark on the the world by making great shoes, changing the game of basketball, and also growing up watching LeBron and Kobe, and of course Jordan.  I've always watched interviews and stuff about Tinker Hatfield, he's the main guy."

"I have a few shoe designs that have new technology I've created.  I need to have a sit down with other designers and manufactures to create some of the shoes, not the average every day shoe haha."

"I also have a new basketball shoe that I'm getting made, that's my second shoe, inspiration came from the Jordan XX8 and the Nike Mag, a shoe that's really out there and different, capture people, catch they're eyes."

These are the type of people I admire.  The types that go after what they want and takes risks to get there.  We only live once guys...let's make our dreams happen NOW.  Click the link below to check the Howe Concepts website to shop for this dope creation!

The Adidas D Rose 4

Adidas' Basketball Footwear Manager Jack Gray sat down with Sole Collector to discuss some of the technology and aesthetic inspirations for Derrick Rose's come back shoe, the D Rose 4.  I really love the direction of this shoe and especially the story behind it's two-tone exterior...makes perfect sense.  I'm just excited to see how well Derrick Rose actually performs in them.  Click the link to read the full story.

Li-Ning Way of Wade 2 Design Direction

FIRE!  That's what I have to say about Li-Ning's design direction of D'Wayne Wades new signature shoe.  The name of this unique print is called Dazzle Camo.  It comes from World War 1 when ships used to paint the body of their ships to stand out instead of blending in.  The camo had the ability of tricking the rival ships of it's direction or speed.  This is similar to Wade's play in a NBA game.  You're not sure if he's going to pull up for the jumper, run pass you for a dunk, or dish the rock off to a teammate...deceptive!  Cool story behind the shoe...just can't wait to see it now!
